Dear Class of ‘75,

I am disappointed that I won’t have the opportunity to see you all at the reunion in late September. Surely it can’t 30 years? Surely we can’t be closing in on 50? That seems to be a very, very dangerous number. From over that horizon the next milestone is 60, and I am definitely not prepared or willing to think about that. Not even in the abstract.

As an update from my end, I just moved back to San Francisco this summer after 2 wonderful years in France. My family is staying on for another school year in Aix-en-Provence, a beautiful small city near Marseille and the Cote d’Azure. My wife, Alexandra, is managing somehow to juggle our household of 3 kids on her own. Jess is now 10 and our twins Stella and Shane will be 6 soon. Frankly, it remains uncertain where we will end up long-term, but either destination – San Francisco or Provence – is a beautiful place to raise a family.

I am working in the finance community for a venture capital firm in Silicon Valley. A lot of my spare time is spent enjoying music, and I have assumed the task of steeping my oldest son in a rich stew of rock & roll classics. While Green Day and the White Stripes are early downloads into his new MP3 player, there is still plenty of memory for AC/DC (favoring the Bon Scott era, of course), Kiss, Alice Cooper and Blue Oyster Cult. He loves them all. Hey, an education requires a solid foundation, right?

I hope that you all have fun catching up at the reunion. Don’t hesitate to email me at bill_magill@yahoo.com. I would love to know how you are doing.

-Bill
